Back to school… and to the vet

Roxi is back at school today. It will be interesting to hear what everyone has to say about her moving to London. She told her best friends about the move yesterday. Boo hoo! One of the comments her best friend made was “you’ll be all grown up when you come back!” The reality of it is: so will she!

Life goes on and it’s not healthy to think on the future in a negative way. It is easy to dwell on the “oh no’s!”. But when I find myself thinking about the oh no’s and the things we’re giving up by leaving, I have to remind myself that this is a wonderful opportunity for our family–one that we have been hoping for for more than 10 years. So, when I think about giving up “drop in” family visits, our friends, our big, comfy, pretty house, the conveniences of everything here, I have to give myself a little pinch and say–SNAP OUT OF IT! Family and friends will be more than welcome in our new home (it’ll be cozy) and after a while the inconveniences will work themselves out.

I am taking Trudy to the vet today for micro chipping and a blood test (for rabies). This is part of the elaborate PETS program to get her squared away for her journey to the UK. It is going to take about 6 months! Luckily she will be spending her “quarantine” time with Grandma and Grandpa in Galveston. The lucky dog!

Mr. DJ is busy trying to pull all of his papers together for the lawyers in London. Part of the frustration of this relocation is the uncertainty of the actual date of our move, which all depends on when we can get Mr. DJ’s work papers. We THINK we will be leaving the US on Feb 3. He is supposed to start on Feb 14, but they probably will want him earlier if they can get him.

Meanwhile, I bought more packing tape, and I will unearth the boxes and packing material from the garage. Good thing we saved all of that from our move this summer. I also HAVE to finish all of my jewelry for two upcoming exhibits. I would like to deliver them to the museum by the end of next week.

Revelation of the day: We realized this morning that we need to put all of our stuff into storage by the last week of January. That’s three weeks from now.
