Saturday and Sunday

I can’t believe how beautiful the weather has been here! This past weekend was incredible: clear blue skies and 60-degrees. It was perfect weather to play tourist, so that’s what we did.

Saturday, we toured Mr. DJ’s three offices. Pretty snazzy digs! We walked from the financial district to Tinpan Alley (sorry, Chris), and back down Charing Cross toward the river to visit bookstores and Turnkey, and then back home.

Sunday, we visited the Tower of London. The Michelin London guide lists it as Europe’s best-preserved medieval fortress. Originally established by William the Conqueror, the fortress was built of wood in 1067, and later replaced by a stone structure twenty years later. We highly recommend the Wall Walk. The Jewel House is nice, too, but there aren’t that many pieces on display. Knowing what I know now, I don’t think I would wait hours to see the collection. If there isn’t a line, go see it. Otherwise, spend your time exploring the rest of this wonderful site. And wear very comfortable shoes. Actually, if you come to visit us, be SURE to bring two pairs of comfortable shoes, just in case you get rained upon. We spent four and a half hours at the Tower of London and still didn’t get to see everything.

English Bacon. They really do call them rashers of bacon here, and it is really salty. Don’t they look like little pork chops? Roxi hates this picture. Our cooktop, London.

The Black Cabs, all decked out and not necessarily just black anymore. London.

Another window box. Love the ivy swag. London.

Tinpan Alley (Denmark Street). London.

The White Tower, Tower of London.

King Henry VIII’s wooden head. Tower of London.

Heads will roll! Tower of London.

Our tea break. Yes, it was good! Tower of London Cafe.
Tower Bridge, London.

We recommend the Real Greek restaurant (this one is on the Thames). London.

London Bridge.

You did not write anything about the ad on the side of the cab that read: Wow Philippines. It has been an eye catcher throughout the world. I am glad you took a photograph of it.
