A Lovely Sunday Afternoon in Richmond

Just a shortish walk from the Richmond Train Station, you get to this little approach to the River Thames.
You can see that things aren’t that far away… except Tower Bridge, which really was too far to walk to that afternoon. I wonder if there is a path all the way there. Might have to try that on the bikes.
As you can see, we weren’t the only ones with the good idea to enjoy the beautiful weather.

On our way back to the train, about 6pm, this riverside walk was two to three people deep. The rugby game was over and people were enjoying the rest of their day along the Thames, glass of wine or pint of beer in hand.

Pretty flowering trees. Our trees are flowering in our garden too. Still no allergies! (knock wood)
We ate at Stein’s. I don’t know which was better…
…the beer…

…the food…
…the view…

…or the second pint that we ordered so we could linger just a bit longer. It was just so nice to sit there! (I liked the first beer better, by the way, and the food AND the view were first-rate).
We selected the terraced gardens for our afternoon nap.
But it was too pretty to sleep.
Instead, I worked en plein air in my Moleskine. This book is almost done.
Lots in bloom right now. I never have been much of a plant person (probably because of the Texas heat and my allergies), but it is so nice to visit the gardens in England. To be able to enjoy all of this without lifting a shovel (ok, ok, I know it’s my tax dollars at work, but STILL), it
‘s wonderful!
