First Day of School

The girl started school today. She has about six more weeks before summer break… hahahaha. Seriously, she loved it and said that at some point today she forgot she was the new kid. I think that is a very nice compliment to the school and the kids there.
Incidentally, she is in 7th math (accelerated) She was supposed to test today to make sure they placed her correctly, but wires got crossed and it didn’t happen. Anyway, Roxi considers math to be one of her worst subjects, meaning she usually makes A- to B+ in it. However, she said that she could have answered all of the questions in class today if the teacher would have let her.
In addition to the usual slew of classes, she’s also taking French I every day (total immersion, which is a challenge right now) and she is pleased that she has Fine Art twice a week, Drama twice a week and Choir twice a week. She also has PE twice a week, which she REALLY likes ;-)
There are some after school sports activities, but there is no pressure to join a team. We’ll look over the list tonight and see what’s what.
I met another couple today whose three children just started today as well. They are from Texas and live in the same town where we live now. It was nice to sit down and have a little chat and to say y’all without getting a funny look.
After doing a bit of research on leasing a car, Mr. DJ decided to go find something that we might be able to get sooner than a month. He found something nice, but the dealership wouldn’t finance it because we haven’t been here THREE YEARS. So we have to contact our bank and see if they might do it. If not, I guess we will have to lease something.
I mowed our postage stamp sized lawn today. The mower weighs about 5 lbs and is electric! It took me 10 minutes in total to do the yard, including carrying the mower out, assembling the hopper, unwinding the cord and plugging it in, mowing, cleaning up, unplugging the cord and re-coiling it, and then carrying the mower back to the front of the house to our store room. It was easier than vacuuming!

I will post photos of my new appliances another day. Blogger is being temperamental about uploading photos.
.
I miss Target.
