Long Summer Days

These days in the Shire, the sun rises at 4:46 am and sets at 9:21 pm, though really it doesn’t get pitch dark until about an hour after that. If only the stores would stay open longer too!

Just a regular day

This is one of those days when I forget we’re living in England. It’s just a normal day doing the same things we would do if we were in Texas. Roxi has a friend over for the day and to sleep over. They’re downstairs playing video games, watching their performance from last week’s show, and [...]

Dover Castle, England

Dover Castle, England

We checked the weather reports for the weekend and planned to go to Dover on Saturday, but Mr. DJ (our designated long distance/highway driver) stayed up too late Friday night playing with his music. So, we saved our trip for the next day, soggy Sunday. Dover is located in southeastern England in the county of [...]

The White Cliffs

We spent a fairly wet Sunday afternoon at Dover Castle. I’ll post more later, but for now, here’s something look at: The white chalk cliffs from St. Margaret’s Bay, England. It’s raining today–kind of a steady rain. It’s still on the light side, but it’s more than we’ve seen since we moved to England in [...]

Tank Crossing, Wiltshire, England. Wild (?) poppies in bloom, Wiltshire, England. Road through the trees and hedges, Wiltshire, England. The car park is located [...]

Father’s Day trip to Stonehenge

Ok, I have tried over the past few days to find a long stretch of time to work on posting my pics of Stonehenge, but between jet lag, unpacking, laundry from the trip, grocery shopping, chauffeuring Roxi to and from Theatre Camp, and life in general, I haven’t had great blocks of time. So I’ll [...]

Back in England

Got home around 1pm yesterday. We slept four hours, stayed up too late, then slept for 12 hours. Didn’t do much today. It’s nice for all of us to be home together. Mr DJ hasn’t been home for three weeks! We had a great time visiting everyone, but I have to tell you… I’ll take [...]
