100 Days of Darkness

Ah, a dramatic title, huh? Well I just learned about this today. We had an excellent expat meeting at Roxi’s school–for parents only, part one of three. This was probably the best meeting I’ve attended here. The speaker was great! She told us about what we should expect from our first year as an expatriate. She had us in tears and in stitches. Anyway, she said that we’ll get to a point during our stay when things start to make sense and everything is hunky dory. Then… the 100 Days of Darkness will descend.
What is it? It’s the time between Halloween and Valentines Day when all the days are short. Someone said that whatever sunlight we do get will seem more like twilight. Oh, and sometimes the lack of light can cause “Winter Blues”.
So I am pretty sure the antidote to this is a holiday in the French or Italian Riviera. I’ll just need to run that by Mr. DJ, but I am pretty sure I’m right about that.

What a great support group. I would think a few days on the Riviera would cure just about anything. I’ve got your back on that one.
I vote for Italian Riviera — check out Cinque Terre!
Cinque Terre is exactly the place I was thinking about! A hike from city #1 to city #5 sounds like just the thing!
