Wicked

We caught the matinee performance of Wicked yesterday. I’ve never been a Wizard of Oz fan. Is that ok to admit? The wizard scared me when I was little–his big booming voice and glowing eyes! Anyway, I’ve put off seing this show for years now. However, Roxi sang a few songs from this musical in a couple of her choir performances, so it became priority on our “Musicals to See” list (yes, another list). The cast was great, but boy did Kerry Ellis stand out as Elphaba, the wicked witch. That girl can sing.
.
On a sad note, Roxi lost her 8GB red iPod Nano somewhere between the theatre and the train station. It either fell out of her pocket or got nicked. This was her father’s special birthday gift to her this year, so you know she felt bad about it. It’s a hard lesson, especially when this one was a replacement for a 4GB black iPod Nano she thought she lost last year, and subsequently found in her school backpack before we moved here. Grrr.
.
Oh, we did spend a a couple of hours at the V&A. Not enough time to be sure, but I’ll take what I can get. We had lunch in the Cafe, which is located in the three original “refreshment rooms”. Lovely! The V&A is celebrating its 150th anniversary. Can you imagine?

To actually get to see Wicked in London?! Amazing.

Poor Roxi. I can’t imagine how many songs a teenager would have accumulated on such a grand IPod. It’s scary to think that someone might have been watching her and picked her pocket. If that’s the case, I’m glad all they got was the IPod.

I’m going to pretend she lost it. They call me the Queen of Denial.

I’ve heard about how great “Wicked” is. But missed it when we were in London last May, our timing was off.

    Sorry about your ipod, Roxi.

Laurie–well, at least she had her music backed up on her iTunes. It’s just that the RED iPod was from DAD. It was SPECIAL. I think she lost it too.

Peemon–It was really great and so convenient (near Victoria Station). The matinee show is an easy way to take in a show, especially with the long ride home. Even with the rush hour traffic, it wasn’t too bad. It was crowded, however. I wonder how much of it was still tourist traffic? No one around us had US accents, though. So I am guessing it was regular theatre traffic.
