Cruise on Lake Annecy in August

Cruise on Lake Annecy in August

This is one of my favorite moments from the whole trip. These guys were on break. Judging from their aprons, I guessed they worked in a nearby cafe. What did they do during their 15 minutes? The drank a glass of wine or a coffee (cup and saucer) and said hello to the swans. That’s [...]

This, that and more French cheese

This, that and more French cheese

Woosh–Mama DJ arrived at our doorstep at 10 am yesterday and was on the train platform this morning just after 6 am to head back to the airport. Talk about speed visiting! It’s always so great to see her, but it’s sad when she’s here and gone in a flash. I think she’s planning on [...]

It’s Leather Weather

Lord Nelson perched atop his column in Trafalgar Square. I bet he wishes he had a posh leather jacket, too. Chris introduced me to this saying. It means that it’s cool enough to bring out the old leather jackets. Snnnniiiiiiiiiffffff! Ah! It is turning out to be quite a lovely day despite the chill in [...]

Wow-it’s chilly

Something blew in today, and it got so cold that we had to close the windows. It’s supposed to get down to 37 degrees tonight. Tomorrow’s high is supposed to be 53. Mama DJ is coming tomorrow for an overnight visit–hope she brings a jacket! The leaves have started turning here, just a hint of [...]

Photos of my day in the city

I got into London just after 10 am. I picked up my breakfast (a pasty) and ate it while I meandered toward the Thames. This is the clock at Waterloo Station. I found this paver while I was walking toward the Jubilee Bridge. In the many, many times I’ve passed this way, I have never [...]

London Beckons

My very thoughtful Mr. DJ is taking over the carpool duties today so I can go into the city. What am I going to do? Anything I please. But you can bet your bottom dollar that it’ll involve a museum… or two. À demain!

Amigos, I got me some migas!

Yesterday, I made corn tortillas to go with the Caldo de Rez (beef and veggie soup) for my sickies. Remember how I said I’d make them if I could find the masa harina? Well I ordered some from MexGrocer.co.uk. While I was at it, I also bought a tortilla press and some Mexican hot chocolate [...]

It had to happen eventually

Today, we were supposed visit some friends for lunch and a bit of a ramble in the Cotswolds. Unfortunately, we had to cancel since we are all in various stages of under-the-weatherness. Roxi has a head cold. Unless by some miracle she wakes up all the way better (doubtful), I’ll ask her to stay home [...]

Busy few days ahead

Morning sky above my garden yesterday. England. I’ve got back-to-back stuffed days ahead and probably won’t be able to post again until Monday or Tuesday. Hope you have a beautiful weekend wherever you are :-)

Aw MAN!

My washer is out of order again! I think it’s the pump AGAIN. It conked out in the middle of a jeans load. So I have four pairs of Roxi’s jeans sopping and sudsy drip-drying outside on a rack. And my repair dude can’t come until tomorrow. :-(
