Aunt J does London

It was a bit cold today–but we bundled up and took the train into London.

When we got into the city, we knew we had to hurry over to Buckingham Palace to catch the Changing of the Guards. Along the way, Aunt J noticed a double-decker bus. I thought I’d never take them for granted, but here I am nine months into our three-year stint here, and I almost don’t notice their double-deckerness anymore.

More guards.

The bands were awesome. One of the bands played the “Star Wars” theme.

It rained a bit while we were watching the ceremony. The guys just shook their heads to get the rain off their hats. It reminded me a bit of my dog after she comes in from the rain.
After the ceremony, we went to Westminster Abbey. So much history! No photos allowed inside, so I have very little to show you. Be sure to get the audio guide when you visit.

Tomorrow we are out all day. We’re going on a long bus ride–I’ll tell you more about it next time.

Speaking of things we take for granted, I had relatives from Massachusetts visit this summer and they were amazed at…lizards.

    Who knew?

Enjoy your sightseeing experiences :-) You’ll get those words in sooner or later, but it’s nice to travel while you can. And I thought the double-deckers were supposedly disappearing from the London scenery… Would be a shame tough, they are so touristy, lol. By the way, you take really nice pictures. You even made lamb look yummy.

Laurie–Lizards, huh? What about the big tree roaches and the fire ants?

Quinn–Thank you! I had heard about the double-decker buses, too, so I was very surprised when we got here in February.
