Fun with math

I’m getting really good at packing and weighing. I weigh the small stuff on my kitchen scale (that’s how you measure flour, sugar, butter, etc. for baking here, by the way) and the big things on my bathroom scale. The only trouble is I’m weighing in the kitchen using pounds and ounces and on the bathroom scale using… stones.
So, just for future reference:
1 stone = 14 pounds
1 pound = 453.59237 grams or 0.45359237 kilograms
According to my airline, I can check in 2 bags weighing 23 kilograms or 50.7063203 pounds (well, they are kind and round it up to 51 pounds). It only gets tricky when there are ounces involved. I am sure you remember:
16 dry ounces = 1 pound
And just to confuse you:
16 fluid ounces = 1 pint
Our large suitcases weigh about 14 pounds each totally empty! That only leaves 37 pounds left for packing.
I’m having so much fun!
And now the plumber (a different one from yesterday) is here to try to fix the drip in my shower. He’s out in his lorrie looking for a crochet needle to grab the washer. This is the third person who has come out to look at the drip. . . drip. . . drip. . . drip. . . drip. . . drip. . . drip. . .
Hope he can fix it.
[Edit: He did fix it! I lent him one of my fondue forks. He bent one of the prongs into a hook and voilà, he got the washer out. I let him keep his new gadget. You never know when it might come in handy again some day.]

I’m thinking if you each layer 4 outfits to wear for the trip back to Texas, you’ll have enough clothes for the 2 weeks.
You’re welcome.
Laurie–LOL!
Regarding the edit:
My cable guy couldn’t reach some wires when he was installing my new cable modem, so I handed him my wooden back scratcher that I keep by my computer.
It worked perfectly and he said he was going to buy one ASAP. I wasn’t nice enough to give him mine.
Laurie–Well, we don’t fondue very much (at all). We used to use those forks to roast marshmallows on the hibatchi grill ;-)
