Chillingham Castle

Roxi has a very interesting British History assignment coming up, due sometime in May. Each of the students in her class was assigned a historic building to research and then model in some way (Legos, cardboard, styrofoam, wood). The teacher assigned Chillingham Castle to Roxi, knowing that she of all people would appreciate the fact that it is considered one of the most haunted castles in England.
Located between the border of England and Scotland in Northumberland, Chillingham Castle is a little far for a casual visit, but if we’re ever in the neighborhood, it might be worth a look. Considering I experienced unexpected heebies at Hampton Court, you can bet I won’t be spending the night, however.
You can watch some videos about the castle on YouTube. The clips are from the show Most Haunted:
Chillingham Castle Part 1
Chillingham Castle Part 2
Chillingham Castle Part 3
Chillingham Castle Part 4
Chillingham Castle Part 5
You’ll notice they are all wearing parkas during dinner. Those castles are COLD.
This article from BBC might be of interest too. Apparently people were complaining that Most Haunted was deceiving them by its “high degree of showmanship”. The show was cleared, however, because it is considered produced for “entertainment purposes”. Well, duh!
And now for the weather. It’s gorgeous today! We had a little rain this morning, but the sky is blue and the sunlight has a sparkly, golden cast to it today. If could warm up just a tiny bit, say to the mid-50s, that would be wonderful. I see that light snow is predicted for Friday now and we have sleet to look forward to on Monday.

I watch Most Haunted for “entertainment purposes.” Ghost Hunters on Sci-Fi, however, is the real deal. In fact, I think Ghost Hunters International just went to Chillingham Castle.
(By the way, you used Roxy’s real name in the first paragraph of the post.)
:)
Laurie–Thanks, good catch! Even worse is when we (meaning her father) calls her Roxi in real life. She thinks it’s hilarious. I just call Trudy Roxi’s name. Everyone thinks THAT’S hilarious.
Hahahaha!! When I talk to our “mutual friend” about your blog, I always say “Roxi.” It’s especially hard for me since I only know you guys through the blog.
I have a HORRIBLE habit of calling my son and his wife by my brother and his wife’s names and vice versa. Now, that’s embarrassing.
Laurie–Too funny!
