Still packing

It’s felt a bit like we have had a revolving door at our house since last month (plumber, painter, appliance guy). Today we had the move-out cleaner come in and give us a quote (ouch) and our property management company showed the house to some prospective renters. With all of the boxes piled high, in addition to our Texas-size furniture, it’s feeling quite tight around here these days.

However, on a positive note, I am getting a lot of packing done. Part of my problem is we just don’t have the floor space to store the boxes and the furniture at the same time. I think I may have to move some of the boxes into the garage. Unfortunately, that means I have to do a little re-arranging out there.

The check-in at the new house yesterday was interesting. I met with a third-party agent who went through the property very carefully noting chipping paint, cracks, etc. She even checks for cleanliness by running her finger over surfaces. At least she wasn’t wearing a white glove! So at the end of it all, she comes up with a multi-page report listing all of the things she sees “faulty” with the property now. She also lists every movable item on the property (including planters, I think). We have 7 days to go through her report and make any comments.

Moving here is hard work… and expensive. I hope we won’t have to do it again before we return to the US for good.

I always wanted to pay someone to clean out the place I was leaving behind, but I never did it. That’s bound to make things a little easier.

I remember trying to live amongst the boxes, too. I hate moving.

Laurie–This place was immaculate when we moved in. We’re supposed to leave it in the same condition. There is no way I can clean that well ;-)
