What is that feeling?

Tea at the Escher at the Palace museum cafe in The Hague.

I was in my studio for most of the day yesterday. I did a little art, a little organizing, a little writing, and a little studying for the hazard perception part of the UK driving test.

As I was sitting at my desk, I started to feel pretty good, though a little drowsy. I propped my head on my hands and closed my eyes for a second. A few moments went by before I realized why I was feeling so nice.

The SUN was out full strength and its lovely, lovely rays were streaming through my window and onto me. That feeling I was having, the one that made me feel squishy inside? I was WARM for once.

I never thought I’d say this, but sometimes I miss the heat of Texas. I don’t think I’d like more than a week or two of it, because it can get so hot there that all of your energy just melts away.

But being warm in England for just one moment, mmmm. It’s nice.

Ahhh. I love sunshine. That’s why I live in Florida. I miss Connecticut terribly, but I can’t take the weather.

I love the heat. I’m just miserable in the cold. I’m a human lizard.

Spring is just around the corner and then, for all of us in a cold climate, we’ll be happy!

By the way, you take such beautiful photos! What camera do you use? I’m in the market for a new one.

Well, it was chilly here in the ‘hood this morning! However, spring is on the way…this is our nicest time of year. I can see why you would miss this! Mimsy

Rebecca–I am surprised how much I miss the sun. The heat, not so much, the sun, yes.

Laurie–There is something to be said about the heat! Especially when you have central AC.

Alyson–I can’t wait for spring in England. It’s so pretty here. And thank you for the nice compliment about my photos! I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT. I’d like to trade it in for an XTi because in addition to being 10.1 MP, the XTi has a larger screen in back. But the XT is a GREAT camera. Nikon has a fabulous SLR line too, and I’ve been hearing good things about Sony’s new SLR.

Mimsy–I love November-April in Texas. It’s the other six months that are killers. Too hot! And no, I didn’t feel the earthquake… I must have slept right through it. But Roxi’s math teacher (another Texan, by the way) said that she could hear her closet shake.

Studying for the “hazard perception part” of your driving test? I’d love more detail on this. :)

    Enjoy the rays of sun!

  8. Just a Plane Ride Away says:

Barrie–I’ll work on that ;-) And I am enjoying the sun, though it is being a bit shy today.

  9. Alyson says:

Thanks for the tip! I will definitely be looking into that camera!

    Alyson–Have fun and good luck!!
