I would have liked to have chaperoned this field trip

As you may recall, Roxi went to London with her classmates last Friday evening. The trip was to celebrate the completion of their mystery genre study. Before Spring Break, the class read a Sherlock Holmes story. After dissecting it, they were then were required to write their own short mystery. Roxi’s story involved stolen history notes, a drama production, a rival (of course) and a sword fight.

Friday after the bell, the kids and three of their teachers boarded a HUGE and very plush double decker tour bus and motored into the heart London where they visited Covent Garden for shopping and street entertainment. After, they split into two groups for dinner–Pizza Hut or Wagamamas. Roxi and her “posse” selected noodles over pizza, which I think was a good choice! Roxi ate the Miso Ramen–”noodles in a pork and chicken spiced miso soup topped with stir-fried chicken, carrots, leeks, garlic and beansprouts. garnished with wakame, menma, mixed sesame seeds and chilli oil”. She said it was spicy but good.

Well fed, the kids walked over to St. Martin’s Theatre to see Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap. Roxi enjoyed the play very much and was dying to tell us all about it, but apparently the audience was asked to keep much of it a secret so as not to spoil the surprise for others. Interestingly, the play has been running for 52 years. Wow!

Today, Mr. DJ is on a day trip to Birmingham. That’s England, not Alabama. I almost went with him, but today is a short day for Roxi. Oh well. I would have liked to have seen the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter.

And totally unrelated: here’s a photo for my mom and dad. They’re coming to visit next month!

Of course, Roxi chose noodles over pizza. You spoiled her on the homemade pizza.

(By the way, Pizza Hut serves pasta for delivery now and it’s delicious!)

Laurie–That’s good about the pizza. One of our local pizza places will deliver wraps, which are pretty good too.

What a fun London trip! Birmingham isn’t the greatest city, so you didn’t miss out on a lot. I actually lived in a suburb of Birmingham called Sutton Coldfield. I prefered taking trips to London!

Alyson–Well, after doing a bit of research on restocking my jewelry tools, I realized I missed out on some great stores in Birmingham. I can order online, but I like to look at stuff in person. Oh well!

Oh, that would have been cool actually! I make jewelry, as a hobby, and I know what you mean about wanting to look through the stuff in person.

    Alyson–Great minds… :-)
