Hamburgers

The last two evenings I’ve smelled grilling burgers. Somewhere nearby, some brave pit boss has thumbed his nose at the rain gods and fired up the grill. Me? I’m still traumatized by my rained out barbeques last “summer”. So instead, I’ll sit here, smell the burger smoke and eat a girly salad tonight. Just as well as I’m still recovering from all that meat and potatoes I indulged in last week in Germany. It’s just me and the dog tonight anyway. Roxi is off at another sleepover and Mr. DJ is out of town.
The weather here lately? Lows in the low to mid-50s, highs in the low to mid-70s. Sun for the last three days (in other words: gorgeous), but I see it’s going to cloud up later this week, and light showers are predicted for the weekend. Good thing I took a walk in Savill Garden with my friend S this afternoon. I finally saw the rest of the Surrey Sculpture Society’s 2008 Exhibit, which closes on July 6. Sorry, no photos. I travelled light today.

Welcome back!!
I love how you put quotes around summer! haha Enjoy your gorgeous weather while you have it and enjoy an empty house while you have it! It’s nice, every once in awhile, to have your house to yourself.
I looked at outdoor grills and furniture today . . . but made no purchases. Last year we never got around to investing in garden entertaining stuff because it just rained and rained.
I do love the smell of a burger grilling.
Laurie–Thanks!
Alyson–It was nice. I got a lot of stuff done.
Bee–I am the same! Last year I looked at outdoor furniture but decided no because of all the rain. Now I think no because we might move to the city next year, and I’m not sure if we’ll have room for something like that. Luckily, our conservatory opens out into the garden, so it’s kind of like eating outdoors ;-)
