Happy Weekend

Hey, if you live nearish Windsor Great Park and are looking for an outing, Savill Garden is hosting the Surrey Sculpture Society’s 2008 Exhibition. After your stroll through the garden, you can have lunch or tea on the terrace overlooking the garden. It’s fabulous, I tell you. Oh and don’t forget to stop in Savill’s charming gift store.
.
Roxi is going to a sleep over birthday party tomorrow. And lucky her, the party includes a trip into London to see Wicked. Ooooo, I’m so envious!! All is not lost, however. I get a date with my man. Now I’m wondering if we can squeeze in a quick visit to Whole Foods Kensington after our visit to the Imperial War Museum.

And wow, I made hamburger buns to go with sloppy joes the other day. The were really good, but I must admit that having lived here, I much prefer floured baps. I need to find a good recipe.

Lucky Roxi! And lucky you! I need to go on a date with my man someday soon too.

Oh my gosh, I’ve never heard of homemade hamburger buns before! They look awesome!

Alyson–Yes, dates with husbands are very good things. But it’s hard when you don’t have family in town, isn’t it?

The hamburger buns turned out REALLY (surprisingly) good. There was a tip in the reviews about brushing them with egg white and then sprinkling with sesame seeds before baking, if you like seeded buns. There was also a tip about turning them into onion rolls, which I will try one day soon. We just finished the last of the buns today. Mmmmm!

    Laurie–Thanks!

We’ve actually been to London primarily (if not solely) to visit the Whole Foods store.

I also had a fun, decadent lunch at the oyster bar there not long ago.

I hope you have a happy weekend, too . . . I’m hoping for some sleep, but we’ve got to get through Sports Day first.

Okay. I had to look up BAPS, which turned out to be some sort of yummy soft Scottish bun. I found this recipe: (I’m breaking up the link to fit here.)
