Brussels: The view from our room

The view from our hotel room in Brussels. Click to enlarge.Roxi and I are going uniform shopping today. All her skirts and trousers from last year are about an inch and a half too short! As we were driving home from her friend’s house yesterday I FINALLY found a fabric store in another town not too far away. We’re going to go check it out. Maybe we’ll go out to lunch too.
.
Only 20 more days of Summer Vacation. Boo.

Have fun!
Hi, came here via Elizabeth’s blog! Hello from North Yorkshire!
Grey today, looks like rain! Typical British Summer eh??
Laurie–It was fun, but all the stores were out of Roxi’s size. Grr! I guess I need to start shopping in July.
Denise–It rained a tiny bit this morning, but this afternoon, we’ve lovely blue skies and some sun. Yes, typical British, but coming from too hot to mention Texas, I can’t complain ;-) Love your blog and your photos of Jo and Wilma. Thanks for stopping by!
Re your comment…yes the moors smell awesome. Walking up the lane with Wilma at the moment is wonderful because the honeysuckle is in bloom!
%pm nearly here, just debating whether or not to risk the weather and head for Whitby on the motorbike.
Dxx
Whitby! I’ve wanted to go there for so long…
I’m glad I’ve stopped growing! If all my trousers became too short each season, I’d really be in a fix!
Nice view!
What does Roxy wear for a uniform?
I remember uniform shopping, black watch plaid kilt, navy blazer or sweater with school crest on it & yellow on game days (YOGD.) White collared shirt (YOGD),navy knee highs (YOGD), brown shoes (dockersides, lace ups or wallabees).
Fabric shopping!!! I just LOVE fabric shopping…
I love your view! I must figure out how to do that cool effect someday.
Pamela–I know what you mean! I actually don’t like clothes shopping (I get that sort of deer in the headlights feeling). I am better when I have something specific to buy.
Susan–Unlike her old school in Texas where there was a specific outfit from a specific store, Roxi’s school here is very casual about uniforms (she goes to an American School). Black trousers or skirt of most any modest style, white collared shirt, navy sweater (although most kids wear the school version with the crest). They are very specific about shoes, however. They must be black or brown leather dress shoes. No “trainers” as they call them here. That gets a little tricky during the rainy season. Uh, when it rains. Roxi wears black ballet flats, which looks very nice, but is gets filled up with water quickly.
That fabric store was GREAT! I don’t sew (no machine yet) but I wanted to see what they had in case Roxi need something for a costume or for fun. You never know! I think I may learn how to hand sew leather, though.
Alyson–It’s easy! I use the photomerge option in Photoshop.
