Busy week

Spider webs always remind me of the children’s book Charlotte’s Web. I try to think nice thoughts about them, but sometimes it’s hard. Webs can be pretty, though. Lucy Lucia has a nice photo on her blog of a web full of water drops.
Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve noticed that it has started to get darker earlier. The sun sets about 6:30 now and by 7:00 it’s pitch dark. In about a month and a half, it’ll be dark by teatime. So this is my trade off: cold, wet, dark, webby England over hot, humid, allergy-inducing, and mosquito-filled Texas. I think I’ll take England for now. 100 days of darkness and all.
We’re busy this week. Roxi is in rehearsal M-W. This evening she has a French play to attend, tomorrow she has an all day field trip (late pick up), Thursday she is supposed to attend another play at her school, and Friday is the International Festival. Friday night, she has a sleepover and Saturday a birthday party.
Mr. DJ is out of town today and tomorrow (yes, he received his passport with 24 more pages for happy immigration officers to stamp), back for one night and then out again Thursday night back on Friday.
With everyone gone so much, I’m keeping busy making art. I know I should go into the City and take advantage of this “good” weather, but I’m on a roll with my paints, so I’ll keep at it for now. Besides, tomorrow I’ll need to start making cookies for Friday. I think I’ll need to make about 10 dozen. Maybe more.

That’s a great photo of a spider web! I just think they form such beautiful shapes. Too bad the spiders themselves creep me out so much! Sounds like everyone is going have a busy week! Good luck on the baking! May your cookies come out golden and delicious!

When you’re on a roll, you definitely can not leave no matter how good the weather is. Good luck!

Lucy Lucia–Thank you! I hope that the cookies turn out well because I’m going to make a TON of them ;-)

Alyson–We had about an hour of good weather this morning and then it rained on and off for the rest of the day. So I felt better about staying at home.

I LOVE that photo, I had to enlarge to check if it was a painting. Never thought of webs as something attractive before.

It’s starting to get dark (and cold) here too.

I opened a cupboard under the stairs tonight and discovered that it was a haven for spiders! Love of Charlotte aside, I tend to be fairly ruthless about sweeping their “artwork” away.

Good luck with those cookies! I hope that I get to taste one. :)

  7. Just a Plane Ride Away says:

Christine–Well, thank you! I wish I could paint that realistically!

Bee–Oh, aren’t they a bother? I hate walking through the webs. Blech! Don’t tell Charlotte, but I vacuum up those things, spider and all. I do feel a little bad, but UGH! PS I shall save you a cookie or two in case you drop by :-)

    Mimsy–BUTTER!!

I’m noticing the shorter days here in Maine too. It’s not as north as England, but it’s close. The worst part is waking up before sunrise because my kids need to catch a 7am bus to school.

Busy week for you – glad to hear you are back to art.
