Aaaaaaahhhhhhh!

Near our flat in Krakow. I’m pretty sure those signs say, “Danger–Holidays Ahead”. I am feeling a bit like sleeping beauty here. Can someone please tell me how it got to be November 21 ALREADY??
The middle and upper school band concert last night was so fun. Thank goodness they didn’t play Christmas carols, as that would have pushed me straight into panic mode! As it was, we enjoyed Mamma Mia, Louie, LouieTequila (which always reminds me of Pee Wee’s Big Adventure), Stand by Me, and Play that Funky Music among others (come on, click on the song titles–you know you want to). The band teachers rock!
This weekend, I really need to focus on Thanksgiving, Mr. DJs birthday, and tree trimming. Then I need to hatch a plan for getting us through production week for Roxi’s musical. Oh, and exams are coming up in a few weeks (already?). And finally, I need to gather all of my lists and think about Christmas and our trip to Texas.
Hmmm.
Have a great weekend!

it is a bit stressful thinking of Xmas preparations, not to mention you guys do Thanksgiving. People here are already stringing their xmas lights and decorating for Xmas.

    Enjoy your weekend.

  2. Alyson (New England Living) says:

I’m with you on this one. I try not to think about Christmas for too long, or else my blood pressure rises.

Happy birthday to your man! Good luck with all your preparations!

  3. Brave Sir Robin says:

Is there anyone in the world who ca hear “Tequila” without doing the “Pee Wee” dance?

  4. Akelamalu says:

I’m in Christmas mode, got all the pressies and the cards, just need to wrap and write now!

  5. Just a Plane Ride Away says:

Christine–I drove by a house here that was totally decked out with lights and all sorts of, uh, decorations. Very unusual for England.

    Alyson–Amazon.co.uk is my best friend.

    BSR–I don’t think so!

  6. Just a Plane Ride Away says:

Akelamalu–You are so very organized. I am SO impressed and envious!! Have you decorated yet?

  7. Bee says:

I’m actually thinking about wrapping some Xmas presents today. We just got two boxes of books from Book People and they all need to be wrapped! Or, I could make my chutney. Or I could work on my Xmas cards. I totally agree that November has snuck by.

Guess what? There is no canned pumpkin round these parts. This is a big-time upset for me. I may have to look in London.

  8. Emm says:

I can almost feel your panic! Don’t panic – enjoy! I do appreciate not having kids yet sometimes – I take these occasions so easy but I know it will all end one day (with new beginnings of course!).

  9. Just a Plane Ride Away says:

Bee–Gads, wrapping really? The one thing that I don’t care for about going to Texas for Christmas is I have to do a major scramble for last minute shopping and, UGH, wrapping. BTW, I am serious about sending you a can of pumpkin if you want it. Or maybe a sugar pumpkin would work if you have the time…

I got a book order today as well… haven’t even opened it. I’m in denial!

Emm–I am a little better now. I just need to sit and plan a little. Oh and dig through all of my hiding places and see what I’ve bought so far in terms of gifts. And though they seem like a lot of work and worry, kids are great. I love being a mom :-) I know you’ll be a great one when the time comes for you.

  10. Laurie says:

Can you believe the holidays are here already?! Have a great weekend.

  11. Just a Plane Ride Away says:

Laurie–I’m taking it one day at a time ;-)

  12. Chris says:

    Texas?!
Do they sell cranberries in Texas? Maybe you could get them cheaper?

Here’s the deal: when I was crafting for Samhain time was rushing forward, and I thought, well at least Yule is two months away.

NO! It’s here now! I’m not ready!

That’s it. This year, I’m starting all holidays 9 months ahead. It’ll be like a gestation period. And I’ll take all the drugs they want to give me!

Be good to yourself, writer and artist.

  13. Elizabeth says:

I don’t think you need to start Xmas until at least the feast of St.Nicholas(December 6th).
That gives you a few more days of peace………

  14. Rebecca Hickman says:

    Have a wonderful holiday.
