Happy New Year and Happy Birthday to JaPRA!

View outside my bedroom window early this morning.
We’re back! Actually we got back on Friday, but my brain cells didn’t catch with my body until today. We had a great time in Texas–more about that later.
Meanwhile, Happy Birthday to my blog! It is hard to believe it was two years ago that I sat in the study of my Texas home and wrote my first post. I sure had a stomach full of butterflies thinking about our move and all the changes to come. Though looking back, I really had no idea what we were getting into! All told, I am glad we took this opportunity to live overseas. And yes, I’m glad that our time here isn’t done quite yet.
Thanks to all for stopping by JaPRA to visit. I really appreciate all of your comments and have enjoyed making new friends. You all are part of my cherished time here in England too. Happy New Year!!

Welcome back! I almost said “home”. I guess it is home for now. So that was your first post? I should go back and read all of them!! *gulp* that might take a while – catch up with you in a few months.

I’m SO GLAD that you are back. Partly because of your own dear voice, partly because of your weekdaily habit of checking in with us, I have felt very off-kilter with no JAPRA around!

(It was nice to see a picture of your West U house. It looks so familiar!)

My next thought is: You have a lot more snow than we do! We just have patches. It was fun to wake (and not very early, I will point out) to fat falling snowflakes.

Two years of blogging? What a photojournal you have created!

  3. Christine says:

welcome back, and Happy Blog Anniversary! At least you had a warm holiday, back to winter!

I am so happy to see that you are back and that you had a great vacation. What a great seasonal picture was waiting for you. We had about a quarter of a centimetre down here in the southeast…and what a fuss everywhere, school closing, heating shutting down.
Looking forward to hearing about your hols.

Welcome Home and Happy Blogversary! Your blog is about a month older than mine! :)

Can’t wait to hear all about your trip.:)

Snow is lovely! Hope you don’t have too much driving to do in it!

Yay! Happy Blog-birthday! I hope you and yours had a great time in Texas, the holidays are great, but it’s also nice to get back in to the swing of things. Looking forward to seeing more of your posts! :)

Emm–I was having a bit of trouble with the word “home” too. But as you said, this is home for now.

Bee–You’re too sweet. I do admit it has been hard to get back on track with normal life. But Roxi goes back to school tomorrow, so maybe I’ll feel better about things. I suffered terrible jet lag in Texas! It took me five days to acclimate. It only took me three days to get my body clock synched with England.

Christine–I had my fill of warm weather, but not sunshine. Luckily it was sunny when we touched down here last Friday. I think I’ve fared worse this year with the shorter days. We were so happy about the winter solstice!

Moannie–I am looking forward to visiting everyone’s blogs and catching up. I am sure you had a wonderful time with your daughter :-) As for the snow, I did drive in it today–my first time ever to drive in the frozen stuff. Of course there wasn’t too much, so it wasn’t a problem. However, I did notice that the snow that melted earlier today made puddles of ice in the roads by this afternoon. I hope it won’t be bad tomorrow for the morning commute.

Akelamulu–Happy Blog Birthday in advance! I’ve missed reading everyone’s blogs and am looking forward to reading about your holiday as well.

Kathy–Yes, the snow was so pretty! It felt like someone left me a lovely present outside my door. Trudy was not so impressed, however. I think she needs little doggie wellies. Her poor, cold feet!

Lucy Lucia–I was ready to come back after the first week. We had a wonderful time, but it seemed like we were gone for ages. I did like the big dose of sun we got the last four days. Nothing like that blue Texas sky.

    Happy Blogaversary!!
My two year date was last week, and I forgot all about it.

btw – Thanks for the praise on my new banner pic. That picture is indeed on the Texas coast.I took that in June at my friend’s Bayhouse.

Glad to have you back and I’m looking forward to hearing all about it. Too bad the weather wasn’t better while you were here.

  10. Chris says:

Look at you! You look maahhvelous!!!

    Happy Blogversary!

    Welcome back to England!
Well done on keeping up the blog for 2 years. I’m impressed.
looking forward to hearing about Texas.

BSR–Happy Blog Birthday to you too! That makes at least three of us in hitting the two year mark within weeks of each other. I miss the Texas coast. I never got down to Galveston this visit. Have you been since Ike?

    Chris–Thank you :-)

Elizabeth–I adore your new profile pic!! Love with a capital L.

Laurie–I am so sorry we didn’t have a chance to connect while I was in Texas :-( But there is always next time, I hope.

Audrey–Thanks! It’s great to be back… except, man, it’s cold!!

  15. Pigtown-Design says:

Happy Anniversary. I think my 2nd is this week, too!

I am so glad that I had the chance to meet you in October! What a fun day we had.

    xoxo

P-D–Happy Blog Birthday to you too!! I can’t believe how many of us started around the same time. I am glad we had a chance to meet in October as well :-) XO

I haven’t made it to Galveston, but I’ve been to Angleton, Pearland, and as far South as Kemah on 45.

There is still a good bit of visible damage the further South you go, lots and lots of blue tarps still on roofs, damaged billboards and business signs abound. Kemah Boardwalk just reopened about a week or so ago. The Clearlake area looked fine this weekend. I’ll try to post some Galveston pictures pretty soon.

BSR–I was down in League City over the holidays and yes, I have to agree with you on tarps and blown out signs. I am looking forward to seeing your photos.
