Emm--I hope you like it :-)

Sarah--My daughter loves fantasy. These books are a step up in maturity for her. The main characters are about 16... and a bit more worldly than I would like. Still, I would rather her read these books now while we still have a speaking relationship--LOL! Of the three, I enjoyed "Wicked Lovely" best. I can't wait to read your books!!!!!! And I think you would write a wonderful, thoughtful YA novel.

Cool photo even if a crime. Violent protest against Starbucks?

I’ve been reading more YA with my daughter too. It’s good to get recommendations. I’m toying with the idea of writing a YA book.

I keep a list of books to read on my computer. I like your book journal idea.

Emm--I did like Wife in the North. She definitely lives in a more rural place than us, but I could relate to some of her feelings. She has a blog: http://www.wifeinthenorth.com/

Chris--Happy Inaguration day to you too (well, a day late)! About the book journal--I try not to keep separate journals because it splits my attention and then nothing gets written down! However, I think I will keep a running list near my computer. I used to use Good Reads to track my books, but for some reason, I couldn't keep up with that. And about being an expat, well, it ROCKS! But sometimes one gets lonely for home.

Christine--Yes! Art has to be mandatory. It's the only way I can get back into groove.

Alyson--You must go back! Wow, was it handwritten or a printing of someone's journal? And yeah, 8th greade health. Just you wait, my friend.

Bee--The binder is such a good idea! And Roxi did have health class in 4th and 5th grade to talk about body changes, health in 7th to talk about eating disorders, and 8th for sex ed. It sounds like the teacher is really great and has the kids actaully talking in class. Very healthy, I think.

Elizabeth--Yes, indeed!

Fantastic Forrest--My daughter and I watched the inauguration on the internet (it was her history homework)! It was such a strange feeling to watch it here in England. It was like watching the moon landing or something like that. Very dreamlike.

Love the picture and the sense of hurrying the blurry yellow jackets gives.

But I'm eager to read your thoughts on the inauguration! Did you watch it with other ex-pats or by yourself? Favorite moments? Didn't you love Michelle's dress? I did!

I bought a little "Books to Check Out" binder years ago . . . and it has finally found its purpose! Sitting by my computer so that I can jot down the book recommendations I get from my favorite blogs!

Actually, it seems pretty late to be starting the Sex Ed thing. Don't they usually do that in 5th grade?

I saw an old book journal in the used/rare bookstore the other day. It was from the 20s. It was so interesting, but I was already spending a ton of money on other books. However, my mind keeps going back to that book. I must go back and buy it!

8th grade health class? Yikes!

Oh, how many times the past 8 years have I pondered becoming an expat...

A book journal is a great idea! It serves as remembrance, but it also clarifies your reading goals, it allows you to reflect upon what you've read and what it did or didn't do for you. I think it's a great journal idea, and thanks for that.

Happy Inauguration day!
