I’m glad it’s Friday
We’ve had some really stunning mornings this week. I think it is safe to say we have made through another “100 Days of Darkness”. Thank goodness!! Roxi has a sleep over tonight at her best friend’s house. Tomorrow we are going to see an opera in London. I am hoping we’ll have time to take [...]
We’ll be moving house… again!
Another chapter for our Expat book. We just got word that Roxi was accepted into a school in London, so we’ll be packing up our quiet life out here in rural-ish England and moving into Town this summer. We are very excited about the move, especially since this may be our last year in England. [...]
And now all’s quiet again.
The guests are on their way back to Texas. I think I need to make some rice pudding.
Happy Pancake Day!
I made some this morning–gingerbread (but forgot to add the treacle). I ate mine with Irish butter and blackcurrant conserve. The kids had theirs with chocolate spread from Holland. Last year we had them with Lyle’s Golden Syrup. Our company from the States decided to extend their stay by one day. Hurray! It’s been nice to [...]
Company’s coming…
Trudy! I love you, but you sure do shed a lot. Mr. DJ’s youngest brother and family are coming tomorrow morning. Gotta tidy up around here. It’s a short day for Roxi–early dismissal–and she promised to help. What a good girl! By the way, the photo above is one I took for an e-course I’m [...]
Barcelona Views

Two years ago today…
We didn’t take that much with us when we moved from Texas. That’s less than half a shipping container. But boy, I wish I had brought more of my art stuff. …we walked through passport control in Gatwick Airport and the immigration officer said: “Welcome Home.” After two years, England definitely feels like home. This [...]
A Flâneur in Barcelona: A fanciful post featuring the letter “F”
We flew to Spain. The airport is right on the coast, so our first views of Barcelona included the Mediterranean and sun. It put us in the right frame of mind for our family holiday. (Photo by Roxi on her Casio Exilm 8.1 MP) We were a bit early to check into our flat, so [...]
