AW, well at least you still have us.
Mmmmmmmm . . . arroz con leche. Funny, I just got back from Texas.
JAPRA – I missed you!
Are you making rice pudding yet? I have been very addicted to a Nigella recipe this winter . . . it is like a sweet risotto.
I’ve been looking through your posts from the last week of so — your photographs of Barcelona are very exciting. (We are going there in July. Have I mentioned that?)
Laurie–I’m so glad :-)
Rebecca–Mmmm! And I hope you enjoyed some delicious Tex-Mex while you were in the Lone Star State.
Bee–I missed you too! Hope you had a good half-term break. Yes, the pudding is in the oven. I am trying “flaked” rice for the first time and used the recipe on the bag. I threw in a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg, a tiny splash of vanilla and a few crushed cardamom pods. I’ll let you know how it turns out. How is your March looking? Fancy a meet-up in town?
Comfort food…yes, that might be just what you need…plus, you know, they are "just a plane ride away." It's hard to be away from where you grew up, even if it's by your own choice and you still have some family around. Creating and cooking are perfect solutions! <3
It’s a mixed feeling when guests leave: one part missing them and another part grateful for peace, quiet and routine. Your tangled branch shot seems to capture it.
Just wondered what inspired the rice pudding? A craving? Love rice pudding anyway.
I’m in total agreement with Sarah! I feel mixed. Hope you can rest up and get back to the norm.
Don’t the people we love leave us such great energy? Call on it again and again!
Cynthia–It’s nice to know other people get it :-)
Sarah–Yes, that’s it exactly. I sat at my computer for a few hours yesterday trying to remember what it was I was doing before they got here.
Christine–Comfort food ;-) It was good and I have leftovers today.
Alyson–I am finding my place again, thanks friend.
Chris–It was so fun having our family here. New memories to add to our Expat book :-)
