I’m glad it’s Friday

We’ve had some really stunning mornings this week. I think it is safe to say we have made through another “100 Days of Darkness”. Thank goodness!!

Roxi has a sleep over tonight at her best friend’s house. Tomorrow we are going to see an opera in London. I am hoping we’ll have time to take Roxi over to see where her new school is. She’s never been.
On a sad note, there was a small fire across the street yesterday evening. I never did meet this neighbor. I think he or she was house-bound if not bed-bound. Anyway, I almost didn’t notice the fire–the two fire trucks drove down our street in silence. Trudy was the one who called our attention to all the activity.
There was smoke coming from an upstairs window, and I thought all was okay since there wasn’t a lot of panicked activity. Two hours later, though, an ambulance came (no sirens). I had to leave for the train station to pick up Mr. DJ and by the time I returned, the ambulance was gone. I hope our neighbour is okay. I am not sure though, because there was a sad looking mattress and an electric radiator in the front garden this morning. The drapes are gone too.

It didn’t look like the fire was very big, but there was quite a lot of smoke coming from that window.

    Hi Japra,
    Lovely photo.
I hope the poor neighbour is O.K.
Hope you enjoy the theatre !

Yes, that’s a beautiful morning photo.

On the news yesterday they were giving advice about fire safety after a tragic kitchen fire where a senior’s clothes caught fire at the stove. They were saying ‘stop, drop and roll’, but I couldn’t picture the senior doing that as it didn’t sound as if he was in good shape.

What a lovely photo! Sorry to hear about your neighbor, though.

Barbara–Thank you, I hope they are ok too. I did see some people at the house yesterday. But I think whoever was in that house isn’t there now.

Christine–Yes, I would think some older people might have trouble with the drop part. I think it would be frightening.

    Sarah–Thanks and me too…

Oh,I love the pink light in your early morning photo. We were in London yesterday, and the air was so fresh — and relatively warm for Feb.!

What is it with house fires these days?

What a shock when life and loss come so close. I hope your neighbor is fine…sometimes we live right by someone and still it does not feel right to pry…such a shame.

Beautiful photo … beauty and sadness…glad you made it through the 100 days! <3

Bee–It has been rather spring like, don’t you think?! We had the doors open for a little while. So fresh and lovely.

Cynthia–It was so shocking and surreal.

The weather has been quite pleasant this week, the forecast isn’t good though.

I hope your neighbour isn’t badly hurt, fire is a terrible thing. :(
