On Spring Break–back in a week!

vapor2btrail1

I’m heading into London today to get some NL paperwork done. Then I’m staying in Town for the afternoon because Mr. DJ and I have a date! (Roxi has a sleepover). We’re going to dinner and a musical–it’s one I wanted to check out before taking Roxi to see it. I wonder if anyone can guess which one? London, I sure will miss your theatres and half-price ticket deals :-(

We’re on Spring Break for the next couple of weeks. We decided to take a week to go to… England! LOL ;-) We put off visiting some places nearby thinking we’d be around for another year. However when we heard about the NL possibility, we decided we’d better take some time and see a few of the sights here in GB.

So two rules about expat living in England:

1) When the sun shines, go OUT.
2) Don’t put off local travel. You don’t really know when your assignment will end. Actually, this sounds like good advice about life in general, don’t you think? Carpe Diem!

See y’all in a week :-)

I should take your advice and do the same here in Australia, as there are some many places I’d love to visit. We were going to go away for Easter but did not plan it in advance, now everything is either booked up or too expensive!

I hope you are having a wonderful vacation! Good expat advice. From my blog time there, people probably thought it was always sunny or frosty as that’s when I ran out with my camera.

  21. Just a Plane Ride Away says:

Fantastic Forrest–I did see the Dutchess on the plane ride back from Texas over Christmas break. I did like the movie–beautifully filmed. And Ralph Fienness was fabulous!

Roz–I need to visit your blog and take notes! Australia is def one of the places we want to visit. I wonder if there is a AU version of lastminute.com?

Barbara–I did have a wonderful time in York and took lots of photos. Will share next week!

A Cuban in London–I did, thank you :-)

Lucylucia–We did have a lovely time in York. I wish we could have tagged on a few more days and gone all the way up to Edinburgh, but my husband needed to come back for work. Still, it was a good break.

Bee–I am glad to know you are making the most of your time in Texas. Enjoy some of that Tex-Mex for me, friend.

Sarah–LOL! It is raining here today. Drip, drip, drip. But I can’t complain as we have had many weeks of superb weather!

Emm–Cannot wait to hear about your trip back home!!!! Hope you took lots of photos.

Nixdmnix–Haha! I like your staycation and pizzacation descriptions. We tend to eat a lot of pizza while in Italy too. I really wanted to go to Venice/Florence over the break, but decided we needed to see more of England while we were here. Happy Easter to you too!!

Thank you for leaving me that comment! I’m glad you liked the post.

Your thoughts are interesting and they made me consider something that I never really had before. In Spanish, ‘torta’ means cake and ‘illa’ is a diminutive so tortilla means little cake, regardless of its ingredients. Mexican tortillas, as you know, are of flour or corn and in Spain, the most common are of eggs and potatoes. This is said to have something to do with food shortages during the Carlist wars because potatoes were quite common and the tortilla could be made by using few eggs. The strange thing is that despite the cultural links, Spaniards don’t really go for Mexican food much and Mexican products (what little can be found) are quite expensive!!

I hope you’re having a wonderful time on your break!

  24. JaPRA says:

Xoan-Wahn–That is very interesting! A friend of mine told me England was still under food rations into the 1950s. It’s hard to imagine what it must have been like to have such shortages (of everything). We are having a good break, thank you! The sun is shining again after three days of drippy weather.
