Back from Holland

We’re back from a quick four-day trip to Holland to look at Roxi’s new school and to find a house. I intended to blog during our time there, but we were so busy that by the time we got back to the hotel, we were exhausted.
We did manage to stroll through the shopping district of The Hague where we came across this window display. A sign of the times, huh? We saw a few people walking around town and the airport with masks on, too.
Anyway, more later. I just wanted to pop in and to say hello and to thank you for all the nice comments this week. Hope you’re having a lovely weekend!
PS Happy Mother’s Day to my mother, my mother-in-law, and everyone else who celebrates this weekend XO
About the Author: JaPRA is an expat Texan living in England with her husband (Mr. DJ), their 17-year old daughter (Roxi), and their dog Trudy.

So that’s where you were! I’ve been missing you . . .
I hope you had good luck with the house hunt.
And that picture is hilarious!! The swine flu hysteria is getting out of control.
Bee, it was a beautiful time to be in Den Haag! Yes, we did find a townhouse. I am so glad that is out of the way. I can’t believe we’re moving! We sat in one of the squares in the Centrum to have drinks and snacks (the new tea time?) and just had to let it all sink in. Luckily we love Den Hague or I’d be awfully blue about leaving England.
Happy mom’s day to you too!
Thank you, GastonStudio! We’ve a perfectly blue sky today, so it’s starting out right.
I totally get being too spent during a trip to blog about it ALSO much as I’d like to do so.
So will your new home be den Hague?
Maureen, do you travel with your laptop? The biggest pain for me this time is our hotel didn’t have an in-room safe, so I had to haul my little laptop AND my DSLR around with me all day. They get pretty heavy!
Yes, we are moving to Den Haag. Have you been there?
Happy Mother’s Day to you, too!
Thank you, Kathy! Three Mother’s Days away from Texas, I still miss my Einstein bagels and hazelnut coffee in bed. Absolutely nothing is open this early on Sunday in my little English town! LOL
Happy Mother’s Day, welcome back! Of course there wouldn’t be time to blog on a whirlwind trip like that!
Happy Mother’s Day, welcome back. Of course you wouldn’t be able to blog on a whirlwind trip like that!
Hi Christine, Happy Mother’s Day to you, friend! Do you celebrate on this day? Or is it Canada’s the same as in the UK (in March)?
Thanks so much for the alert on the comments. For some reason, my spam filter is working in hypermode and comments from my friends are being captured. Sigh. Not sure why that is happening. I hope it’s just a blip.
Welcome back, happy Mum’s Day and I am so glad you found a nice little townhouse in NL!
Emm, can you believe our townhouse in the Hague (if we can get it, that is) is bigger than our house here? By at least 1000 sq ft. It’s split over three levels and has a basement. I don’t think we have enough furniture for the new place, but it will be nice to be able to spread out a bit :-)
Oh lovely! We love being able to spread out in our house here but now that my Mum isn’t coming anymore, I think we’ll have to downsize eventually!
Exciting times for you all.
The window display is a bit scary, they must be really worried about swine flu over there!
Ha ha – love the photo – and underneath the masks the mannequins aren’t bad either! If that’s what the Dutch men look like, then you’ll have a great time over there! Hee hee. Glad you found a house. Sounds great x
Lol! ;-)
Happy Mother’s Day to you, too!!
Thank you, Laurie! Hope you enjoyed yours as well.
SO glad to hear you found someplace. Den Hague is going to be wonderful.
xoxo
PD, we are looking forward to our move. DH is such a nice-sized city. So easy to get around, friendly and beautiful.
We have just returned from packing up the daughter from her first year of college. It is unbelievable how much a girl can stuff into a small dorm room. We stored 7 big boxes of living materials, mailed home 7 big boxes of shoes, sheets, and towels, and dragged home her remaining things in 5 suitcases. The plan is to pare down for next year! I don’t envy your having to pack up for your move, but at least you will have room to unload. xox
Mimsy, I got tired just reading your comment! Too bad the school doesn’t have a small storage area for returning students. All those little things really add up, don’t they? We are going to have movers pack our things for us, but I still have a bit of sorting and thinning out that I’ll need to do. :-(
Some universities do a much better job at giving the kids storage options. This one is pretty meager…and expensive!
