Anniversary Pinic at Valley Gardens, England.

Anniversary Picnic at Valley Gardens, England.

  • Mr. DJ and I celebrated our 17th Anniversary last weekend by taking Trudy and Roxi for a picnic at Valley Garden in Windsor Great Park.
  • My parents are here for a two-week visit.
  • We have 10 days before the movers come to pack up our stuff for the move to The Hague.
  • Movers are still waiting for approval from Mr. DJ’s company, so still in a little bit of limbo in terms of actual move date.
  • Roxi won the 8th Grade Drama award and one of the 8th Grade Maths (Geometry) awards at her school’s ceremony on Friday. She also received a silver certificate in the UK Intermediate Maths Challenge and passed her LAMDA Level 5 drama exam with merit. Roxi playing the opening music at the Middle School Awards Ceremony.
  • In addition, Roxi was asked to play the opening music for the awards ceremony. She played her own arrangement of three songs: “For Good” from the musical Wicked, “Superman” by Five for Fighting, and “Apologize” by One Republic.
  • Last Middle School Dance was Friday. Two of Roxi’s friends came over to get ready.
  • Roxi sat her Level 4 ABRSM voice exam on Saturday. She sang three accompanied songs (one in Italian), one a capella, plus did some sight singing and theory work.
  • Finals are this week, M-W.
  • Roxi and her “Seasons of Love” group will be reprising their act at the 8th grade graduation on Thursday. Roxi also will be playing one song with her jazz band.
  • It’s been so warm here! It’s too hot in the conservatory, though. We’ve had to hang a curtain between it and the main part of the house. Every day, the jarred candle on our dining room table melts.
  • The leasing company has shown our rental house five times in the last week. There is another showing tomorrow.
  • As much as I love England, I can’t wait to be in our house in The Hague. Really, I just want to be done with the move and all the details of it!

Wow! That is a lot to have on at the moment! I don’t know how you managed to find time to blog!

Happy anniversary! Is that ‘dating’ or ‘wedding’ anniversary?

  2. Jane Gaston says:

Your poor thing! But as I read your posts there are definitely more pros as there are cons, so you’re ahead of the game overall.

Moving is traumatic for everyone, but I think the woman of the house always pays through the nose, so to speak, much more so than any other family member. Hang in there! It’ll all be over soon.

Wow! Congrats to Roxi! We’ve been wrapping up 8th grade too – my son wouldn’t even consider going to the dance though.

Okay, my 17th anniv was Saturday – was that yours too? We went to Uncle Julio’s (just opened in Boca) – we felt like we were back in Texas!

I have a new business idea – bring A/C to Europe!!!

  5. Kathy says:

8th grade sounds a lot more demanding than I remember it! Wow!

So glad you have such a short time before the move to agonize–once it gets going all will seem better, I’m sure. Can hardly wait to hear more about the new place!

Have not been to The Hague (why “the” – I’ve been to “the” London) but I imagine it’s smaller size would be a big difference than London. Is Paris the nearest big city?

  15. Bee says:

I’m looking forward to when your life calms down, too! I miss seeing you around, and can’t wait for all of the new photos/stories from your Den Haag adventure.
