I’m going to buy crumpets.

ocd-gb-moneyThat’s something like £42 in coins–not counting the small mound of 1p and 2ps stashed away somewhere. These were found in various pockets, between the sofa cushions, stashed in the car, at the bottom of purses… LOL! And no, I’m not taking all of it with me.

We’re off to England for the weekend. Manchester on Friday, London on Saturday, then back home on Sunday. It’s a quick trip, but it’s sort of a nice, full-circle way to end the summer. Roxi starts back-to-school activities next week.

We almost had to cancel our trip–the person who was supposed to watch Trudy backed out yesterday. That would have been bad because this is a work-related trip (for all of us). Luckily, we were able to find someone…

I can’t wait to have a cup of tea, a slice of Victorian sponge, and walk in the rain. Cheers!

oh have a lovely weekend ‘back home’. How long is the summer break in Europe? It sounds less than 2 months.

    • japra says:

Christine, it is really short for us this summer–about 2 months– because Roxi has to go in for three days of meetings, tests and teambuilding. School actually starts on the 19th. She’s ready, though. And exciting about making new friends.

  2. Oh, man! I want a crumpet. They just don’t have authentic ones in the U.S.

    Have a great weekend!

Will it feel strange to be in England as “visitors”?

    Take me with you.
    I need PG TIPS
and Cornish Cruncher cheese from M&S!!!!

    • japra says:

Elizabeth, when we left England, I bought the 296 box of PG Tips. I didn’t think I could make it without my tea!

And funny you should mention cheese. Roxi says she prefers the cheese in England. I am wondering if we can bring some extra mature cheddar back…

BTW, as an aside, I am thinking about getting a Kindle. I know I can’t access some of the functions here, but I am in dire need of BOOKS in English–and shipping over the channel can add up. Bee said you have one… Do you like it?

Hey, how do you get there? Is it a train? I’m going to go look.

    Crumpets are yumpets.

You won’t be able to walk in the rain this weekend the forecast is for sun, sun and more sun! LOL

  7. Barbara Blundell says:

Hope you all have a good trip !
Crumpets are easy to make ! I often make them although mine are Pikelets because I don’t use rings .It’s the same mix but they spread themselves out a bit as they’re not constrained. I use a griddle and make loads at a time to freeze for unexpected teatime-or anytime- guests
    Have fun !

  8. Maureen says:

I used to make them in some country we lived, and if you save tuna fish cans, or Thai curry paste cans or even catfood cans, you have rings!

Hope your UK trip was a nice break.

I wonder how your trip went? Goodness, the weekend has already been and gone. (Did you walk in the rain, because we had lots of sun in Berkshire.)

Did you bring back a stash of English goodies — bought with all of that coinage?
