Just look what my bloggy friend Julia of A Bike Ride to the Beach sent me! This mix (well, in a slightly different package–when did this happen?!?) was a constant in my Texas kitchen. Of course, I couldn’t find it in England and had to find a from-scratch, “this is close enough” recipe. But without masa de harina, my chili never tasted quite right.
So thank you, dear friend. You absolutely made my week!
~
Roxi is back to school today after her one week break. Mr. DJ is in TEXAS for work until Friday. I am trying to adjust to not having to study Dutch all my waking hours, LOL. I do intend to start reviewing what I learned next week. I still have Mt. Laundry to conquer, some art to make, and some travel posts to put up. Meanwhile, it is an overcast Monday morning, and I think I need another cup of coffee. I sure got used to sleeping in!

I’m so glad you got it in one piece – I think they just changed the packaging – although I haven’t thought about chili since the last time it was cold here.
Hope you have a nice week!
Oooooooh, 2 Alarm Chili, you’ll be rocking girl!
what a lovely surprise. I guess Mr DJ can bring back more goodies! Another cup of coffee sounds good.
How nice of your friend to send this! I can imagine how happy it’s made you – even the smallest things that come from home or remind you of home can really make your day! Enjoy!
Are you done with your Dutch lessons or is it just Fall break?
Saludos desde Argentina :o)
Chili is the perfect Autum dish! Cold and clammy outside countered by a hot and spicey dish inside!
I love chilli!
I like finding out all about what you’re doing day to day. I have been away, though, so now I will find out what you’ve been doing for a couple of weeks!
OMG CHILI! yummmm! I’m actually drooling a little. I completely agree with Lucylucia, chili is the perfect for this time of year! I think the closest thing I can find here is fabada.
Ahhh, good ol 2 Alarm Chili!! Once a Texan, ALWAYS a Texan:) I’m climbing Mt. Laundry today too, sigh…
Ha! You know it, Carla. I am DREAMING about some good BBQ, though. I’m counting down to our trip back home for the Christmas holidays. Ribs, brisket, potato salad, Texas sausage, corn bread…. Mmmmm! :-)
