A note from Trudy

My mom told me you were asking how I was doing and were wondering how I like it here in Holland. I am fine, thank you for asking! The best thing so far is that my family hasn’t gone anywhere in ages! Mom says that she can’t find a doggy hotel during the busy holiday seasons. I say that’s fine because I don’t think I would like anyone as much as I liked Michael back in England.
I haven’t gone on any really long walks like we did in Windsor Great Park. I miss those. But I do get to go off leash a lot in a park not too far from my house. There are lots of other dogs there, which made me a little nervous about at first–I was not used to so many friends. They are nice, though.
I like our new house. We have three levels and I am getting lots of exercise going up and down all of those steps. My mom taught me some new words–I now know “up” and “down”, which can be very useful.
Anyway, our house has a really big bay window, as most of the homes have here in the Netherlands. Mom and dad keep the curtains open all the time because it’s gezellig. (That means homey or cozy or nice. Mom’s friend Aledys has a gezellig post about that word here if you want to learn more). We live on a pretty busy street and I like to say hello to everyone who passes by. Mom says it drives her crazy and hurts her ears, so we spend a lot of time upstairs in the music and art studios.
So to answer your question, I like it here in Den Haag, but I do miss England. I liked to lie in the soft grass in the evenings and just smell the good smells. Maybe one day I’ll go back.
Love,

So happy Trudy like Holland. I get looks from Sophie like where the hell are we and when are we leaving.Get the same looks from my teenager too!
Ah yes, those looks… ;-)
What an adorable post!!! My dogs aren’t allowed upstairs (human, laundry and cat dog-free zone) but they found their way upstairs on Saturday as the fireworks were driving our whole menagerie to tears!
Trudy would be mortally offended if she couldn’t be with us every minute! But I envy your dog and cat hair-free zones.
Yes, those darned Guy Fawkes fireworks used to upset Trudy too :-(
Ah, no… only a dog hair-free zone. The upstairs is the cat’s domain! But I find dog hair gets everywhere and cats hair is at least confined to where they have plonked themselves.
Favourite place for Seth or Summer to sit at 7:25am: Emm’s freshly pressed black slacks.
Oh dear. Trudy likes to give us a friendly snuggle when we have our nice clothes on. Sigh…
so how do you pronounce gezellig? Lovely post from Trudy’s point of view.
Here you are–said with feeling too :-)

Who’s a good dog? Good dog, Trudy. Good doggie.
{wag wag} arf!!
Okay, now it’s official, your husband has to do a guest post next.
Erm… we’ll see ;-)
I love Trudy, truly. :)
Our hearts beat so unruly,
Because we love our Trudy…
Honest, truly, we do.

Trudy is so much more polite than Scout. Here is a letter I found behind the waste basket, written in Scout’s paw:
Dear Anybody with any kind of compassion;
Please find a home for my ‘owners’. There’s only so much I should be required to put up with.
Sincerely,
The Dog
or, ‘Scout’, as they persist in calling me.
