First frost

Frosty morning

It finally feels like winter here. The temperatures dropped about 15 degrees last night and we woke up to our first frosty morning. Pretty! We’re supposed to get some light snow on Wednesday. Roxi has exams this week, but gets to stay home from school on Wednesday because she doesn’t have exams on that day. So that actually would make a good snow day for us!

Yesterday, we enjoyed Roxi’s high school choral concert and the school’s strings ensemble presentation. It’s always so inspiring to see these young musicians! I am impressed with how much they’ve accomplished this semester.

Christmas Tree on bike

I thought this was a lovely sight. I saw this couple when Mr. DJ and I were driving around on Saturday. As soon as I saw them, I yelled “Look!” and started digging through my purse for my point-and-shoot. As soon as my husband pulled the car over, I leaped out and ran part way down the block to get this grainy pic. It’s not the best photo, but I love it.

And speaking of trees, we finally found ours and decorated it last night. It took us all of 30 minutes to get our new UK and EU ornaments on. And that was with a lot of goofing off, too. LOL ;-)

Do they have their tree on a bike?! How cool.

I’m so jealous of your Christmas weather – we’re supposed to have record highs today – 85 but it’s supposed to feel like 90 with the humidity. I can’t complain too much though – we went to the beach for a couple of hours yesterday – It doesn’t feel like Christmas though.

Your frost picture is great too – it’s so neat seeing frost on green plants.

Yes, they had it balanced on the bike! I felt like such a stalker taking that pic, but they were just so cute. I wondered how many years they’ve been doing that? Will they have family over for the holidays? Grandchildren? Do they have a car? Probably not. Where did they get their tree? Did they have to go very far? Etc. ;-)

Love the way they’re transporting the tree! We’ve just experienced our first frost a few nights ago and I’m so glad… if it’s winter, I want it to be winter and not late summer!

LOL, Jane. Having grown up in Texas, I still think it’s fun to experience the seasons. Yes, winter included! I am glad that we don’t live somewhere that gets a lot of snow, though.

I love the picture! I’ve been trying to get a picture of a mini cooper with the tree on top it’s the funnest sight. Have a wonderful holiday!

great photos today. I don’t hear you talk about biking that much these days, Japra, riding around in the car…what gives? (-:

Caught!! I did ride my bike to the grocery last week, Christine, but for the most part, I’ve been taking public transport when I need to go down to the Centrum. And of course, I drive when I have to go to Roxi’s school… It’s not so much the cold that makes biking unbearable for me. Until last weekend, we had been having a lot of heavy rain. :-(

I had my Christmas tree up and decorated about a week before Thanksgiving. I just can’t help it – I am itching to get the lights up and see all the cute ornaments back up! I love seeing cars a round hear with trees strapped to the hoods, I guess this is the Dutch equivalent. How cute!!

I adore that frost picture! We got our first frost recently, too (as well as a dusting of snow for the nearby mountains), and I just love seeing everything with its coat of sparkling white. On the other hand, the frost put the final nail in the coffin of a basil plant that had been limping along. No more fresh basil until late spring, I suppose.

Transporting a tree on a bike sounds like a potentially tricky endeavor! Thanks for sharing that photo–it made me laugh.

  7. Have a wonderful snow day! They are the best!

Are you going to post pics of your tree?
