Alice in Wonderland premiere!

No, we didn’t get to go. We just happened to be in Leicester Square yesterday and saw the crowd.
These Johnny Depp fans were great! Edward Sissorhands, Sweeny Todd, Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka and The Mad Hatter.
Let me just point out that we were there about 1:00 and the premier was sometime in the evening. Here’s a link to an article from the Daily Mail with photos of the actors arriving at the opening. Here’s another link to another article and a short video on BBC News.
And here’s what we saw instead…
Priscilla Queen of the Desert. The songs! The costumes! The best overture ever–hee hee! A totally fun and campy show, but definitely parental guidance suggested. Adult themes, swearing (the F-word), and some particularly revealing costumes. A FABULOUS cast. It’s great to be in the West End again.

Oooh no way I could be that close to seeing Johnny Depp and not wait! Mmmm :D
Breigh, my daughter likes Johnny Depp too, but a 9 or 10 hour wait in the rain wouldn’t have been so fun ;-)
Oh you’re in England! Fabulous! Great to be in the West End indeed – I sooo envy you now! :o)
Great photo of the Johnny Depp fans with all the different costumes!
Aledys, we had such a fun time in London. And even though we didn’t attend the premiere, we still had fun looking at all of the die-hard fans :-)
Yesterday I looked up flights to London, Rome and Australia…all around $1400 EACH!!!
Oh well, I’m going to La. for Spring Break..it’s like the same thing…
my daughter was just asking me why Johnny Depp looks the way he does in movies. I think it’s because he must like to wear make-up.
Ouch! That is a lot!!
You may be right about Johnny Depp. He does seem to play characters with interesting costumes ;-)
We were at ‘Jersey Boy’s’ stage play over Xmas and there was a lot of swearing and adult content. And there’s no warning, so you do have to be careful at these shows if you have little ones.
We were hoping to watch for Alice’s friends, not snowy hats and snow.
Whatever – have a fun-of-a freezing day!

Have fun in Londontown!

Thanks, Amanda. We did have a fun time in London and it wasn’t terribly cold. In fact, it was relatively balmy on Friday :-)
Christine, there definitely was a warning for Priscilla, but I didn’t think I saw one for Jersey Boys, so thanks for telling me!
Hi Japra,
Thanks for photos of London. Hope you had a good time ( Have to confess have only visited the capital twice in my life ! (How awful is that ?)Some of the shows arrive here eventually- in fact some are premiered in Blackpool -so it’s not too bad )
Barbara, you have so many lovely sites in your part of England, I can see why you wouldn’t need to pop over to London. I’ve not been to Blackpool but it sounds like fun.
We are so excited about upcoming Alice . . . but I doubt we will be showing our devotion to the extent of those Johnny Depp fans! Great picture; I’m so glad that you shared that with us. I’d rather dress up than stand outside all day, though. It wasn’t THAT warm on Friday.
I am looking forward to seeing the movie too, Bee. Those JD fans were fantastic, but I agree, my old feet couldn’t take the 12 hour wait. I am sure it was a great thrill, though :-)
Hey, we are the Johnny Depp fans on your picture! We had a 12 hour wait, all in all, but we loved every minute of it, as you can see in this video, haha.

Glad to hear that you liked our costumes, and hope you had a great time in London!
Cheers!

You all were wonderful, Pirate Sisters! And I love your video and Johnny Depp’s reaction to your costumes. Congratulations on getting such good press, too. You deserve it!!
My daughter (who is 15) thought your costumes were awesome. She was especially envious of “Edward Scissorhand’s” hands.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving your YouTube link :-)
