Carol, I’ve learned something new from you! I am always amazed at how well maintained the bricked roads are here. Now I know why! Turning those bricks must be a looooong process because they’ve been working on this stretch of road for ages. And I agree, I can’t imagine this happening in the States except for in a historical place like Colonial Williamsburg. Thanks for sharing this wonderful tidbit with us!!

Oh, this brings back so many memories! Seeing the bricks – I remember that the brick streets in the small village I lived in the Netherlands had to be “turned” every few years – this was an actual job! Turning the bricks so they wear evenly…can’t conceive that people here in the States would consider working at this type of job! Thanks for the glimpse into a typical day.

Lucylucia, it is unlikely that we will be here past the end of June. And yes, we will be back in the UK. Or at least that is how it is looking now.

It’s really true, Akelamalu. Biking is a nice way to see things as well, but it’s harder to stop every two seconds to take a photo ;-)
