A day for fond farewells and the beginning of an exciting new chapter

Roxi after her voice concert on Monday.
Last day of school, and a half day at that. Roxi is dreading the goodbyes, but I reminded her that it’s only goodbye-for-now. With these travel-savvy kids, you never know when paths will cross again. Still, it’s hard to say farewell to those you are used to seeing everyday.
Roxi told me that this move feels really different from our other ones. I think so too. Maybe it’s because we’re going back to a country where we’ve lived before and are excited about seeing our friends and favourite places again. Or maybe it’s because we’ve decided to stay put at least until Roxi leaves for University in three years. I know a lot of her excitement stems from a decision that we made about her last three years of high school–it’s a long story, but here it is in a nutshell.
We three have decided that Roxi will finish her US high school through an online program offered through a US university and then spend the rest of her time in serious music study (she wants to do contemporary voice and classical piano). I will go into more detail about what we have planned in another post when I have more time, but I think now you can see why she is SO excited about moving back to England. As I mentioned before, she was accepted into a summer contemporary music program in London where she will have the opportunity to study full time with other serious musicians. Can you say heaven?
But before this all can take place, the hard part has to happen first. Goodbyes first, packing next, getting our booties back to England, and finally unpacking. THEN the fun can begin :-)
Five more days until the movers come.

that sounds like an ideal plan for your daughter – how exciting that she can pursue what she loves to do at such an early age – you are truly supportive parents!!
Congrats to Roxi I imagine it was a tough decision but sounds like she has a bright future ahead.Good luck I hope you will continue to blog.
wow, lots of big changes coming for Roxi. She already looks like a rock star!
Wow! Sounds awesome! So, are you saying that you guys are moving back to England for 3 years? That is so cool.
Sounds so neat for Roxi! Good luck with the move!
My heart is tightening with the memories of my own ‘leavings’. It’s hard, for sure.
Roxi is really getting a great deal with her education. She’s a fortunate young woman to have you two as parents. “Fair winds and following seas” to you all.
Your girl looks like she has a lot of style :)
My son had to do a couple of high school classes to meet the requirements of getting into the school he’s in now. He really liked doing school online. I kept asking him if he was okay with it (because I couldn’t imagine being able to learn well without a textbook in front of me). He kept telling me he liked it.
That sounds like a perfect plan.
How exciting for Roxi! It’s wonderful that she has such a PASSION for her interests.
Oh wow – how did I miss this??? That is amazing! So she is going to be home a lot with you too while she is studying and then her music will grow and develop? Such an adventure!!! Good luck to both of you!
