Jazz on the Beach

A gloomy day for a photo-op on the beach at Scheveningen,
but inside
there was hot jazz!
This Friday is the band’s last gig. These kids have an awesome director!!
We’ve entered the “goodbye” portion of our time here. Roxi has had to say farewell to her senior friends–they graduated on Friday. She’ll still see a few of them next Friday for the jazz band’s last performance at The Hague Jazz Festival, but essentially, the Seniors are done! Exams for the rest of high school start on Thursday and end next Tuesday. Last day of school is next Thursday. Gulp, gulp, gulp!
All I have to say is good thing Roxi has a lot to look forward to for our move back to England. This has been such a fantastic school for her, I think it’s going to be a bit hard to say goodbye. Luckily for Roxi her full-time music program will start two weeks after we move into our new house! I hope that’ll be enough time to unpack the majority of our stuff. Well, at least the important things–like her keyboard and her bed. LOL!

I love the shot on the beach! It is so Scheveningen! That’s how it (Scheveningen) looked the first time I was there – first time on a Dutch beach! And that’s the way it looked many times after that first visit! hehe
It seem the next couple of days will not only be busy days for you, guys, but also rather emotional. Sterkte daarmee! :o)
Aledys, your comment made me smile! It is so true that Scheveningen looks like that so much of the time. But I just love it when it is overcast. Too much sun brings out too many people and I like to have the beach to myself. LOL!! I will miss it when we move back to England.
sad to leave and say goodbyes, the year has flown so quickly
So true, Christine. I imagine your daughter is dealing with some similar emotions…
my family has a musician friend in delft and wonder if you’ve heard of him – name is Yoshi Breen?
good luck with the move and settling in to your new home!
Amanda, no, I’ve not heard of him, but I went to his website. He is very talented! I bet he is awesome live.
Thank you for your well wishes, friend. XOX
Hallo JAPRA,
Thank you so much for your sweet words about me in Aledys blog.
I must say I had the secret wish to meet you because I think you must be a very nice and interesting person. We can see that for reading your blog ;-)
I was not expecting that you leave NL so soon and now you are busy with your removals.
However, if you want and have the possibility, I will be delightful to meet you, here of in Den Haag. But I will understand perfecly if you can’t.
I wish you all the best in UK and I will continue to read your adventures here ;-)
Have a great week! ;-)
Beijinhos
Oh Sandra, I am sorry we missed each other this time. I nearly passed out when I looked at my calendar this morning and saw that our movers are coming in two weeks! Yikes!!
It was so nice to “meet” you on your blog and to read about your adventures here in the Netherlands. I love knowing that I can visit you, Aledys, Invader_Stu and all of my NL blogger friends when I need a good dose of all things Dutch. Somehow it makes leaving the Netherlands a little easier.
Hope you are not too sad at returning and the move goes smoothly !
Well, Barbara, we are excited about moving back “home”. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year already. The Netherlands and her people have been very good to us, but we’re looking forward to living in England again.
OMG! You’ve been there a whole YEAR already? Hardly seems possible. So glad Roxi has her music. These transitions are never easy but it seems she makes friends easily and having music as a shared language/experience/passion always helps. Good luck with your move!
Yes, can you believe it? I swear, I have never been more aware of time passing…
That is so true about Roxi and her music. She felt very much at home among all of those musicians. I am excited for her!
Keyboard and bed, what else do you need? 8-)
For Roxi, maybe add in a microphone and a computer. That’s basically it ;-)
Oh, man, changes like this are so exciting/scary/fun. I hope Roxi is doing well, and I wish the best for all of you.
That is it exactly, Chris! Exciting/Scary/Fun. Thanks for the good wishes :-)
Oh wow. This just brought back wonderful memories of long, rainy Sunday afternoons listening to Jazz in Newtown, Johannesburg.
Ah, that sounds really nice, Emm. I love live music!
There is an annual Jazz festival in Cape Town every year. Perhaps Roxi could perform there one day?
