I love the beachcomber. Happy WW!
I agree, Betherann–he really made the pic ;-)
soooo can you find lots of stuff there? Or is it just stinky?
It was a wee bit smelly ;-)
And these fellows have found some goodies down there. Scroll down a bit for photos: http://www.thamesandfield.co.uk/
This is SO weird, I had a DREAM about the tidal Thames last night! I just remembered it. I was walking along this little stream and someone said it was the Thames with the tide out and sure enough, this big wave came in and I was so excited to get to see the tide coming in. Are we cosmically connected? 8-)
OMG–that is weird!! I actually thought of you today when I was walking along the Jubilee Walk. There was a kayaker in the Thames–out with the big boats. I’ll post the pic to Facebook in a little bit.
Ok, here’s the pic: http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?pid=273628&id=129898813699407&fbid=139986842690604
wow, I had no idea it got that low. you never see pics of that.
Caite, I was surprised too, the first time I saw the Thames at low tide!
I hope the metal detector guy found more than just rusty old nails and rubbish…
William, he was digging around a bit with a rake. I didn’t stay long enough to see what he found, but I hope it was something good too!
That is such a cool shot. I’ve never seen the Thames that low.
Sarah, I did a double take! Plus some of that sand was actually very light–something I’ve never seen. Usually it’s just dark and muddy looking.
My son has been volunteering at a local garden – I kept noticing that his shoes STINK – he told me it was the muck from the fish ponds…just imagine what that guy’s boots smell like!
Julia, back in Houston, one of our neighbours was really into organic gardening (push mower and all!). They used to fertilize their yard with a fish mixture. Can you imagine that in the Texas heat? It reeked.
Guess your son will be getting some new shoes when school rolls around. Is he very popular with the neighbourhood cats? ;-)
I bought new ones yesterday :)
That explains the cat problem.
LOL! Score on the new shoes, mom :-)
I’ve never seen the Thames at low tide – wow, that is indeed low. I like how you captured all the action by the river, with the guy combing the river banks and the skyline in the background. Very nice!
Bedankt, Aledys! It was such a beautiful day along the river yesterday. I did a lot of leaning over the rail to look at things. I didn’t dare venture into the muck ;-)
Oh, how exciting! I have also never seen it so low. I saw an exhibit at the Tate Modern once made up of things they’ve found on the banks of the Thames.
Oh, how interesting! What kinds of things were on display, Emm?
Oh, all sorts of weird things like spoons, doll parts, watches, jewels and tin cans.
