Italy: Pisa

Because we were “in the neighbourhood”, I really wanted to have a peek at Pisa. We did Rick Steve’s walk from the train station through the town to the Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles), where the Leaning Tower is located. We spent half a day in Pisa and half a day in Lucca. I’ll show you the charming city of Lucca tomorrow, but for now, here’s Pisa.
Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa and Cosimo I de’Medici.
Duomo in the Piazza dei Miracoli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Fantastic! I’m loving your Italy series! Very nice photos….
Grazie, Aledys :-)
More amazing photos (and an amazing place). I’m starting to get quite jealous here :p
I have decided I need to go back to Italy and stay for longer in one place…
All I remember of Pisa is the tour bus taking us there and the tower. It is so neat that you did a walking tour – you must have gotten much more of a sense of the place.
I love the building with the little tunnel through it.
Julia, we love walking–you do definitely see more. And it would be unthinkable to have a car here… Well, we’re not brave enough ;)
wow, fabulous architecture
Agreed, Christine! Italy and I aren’t done yet.
sigh…perhaps that River Arno shot will take the place of your old Punch Bowl photo that I have as my screen saver. You have always been good at framing shots, but now you are great! xox
Mimsy, dear, I am so flattered! If you ever want one of my pics for your screen saver, I’ll email you a bigger version :-)
BTW, made your cake a couple of days ago. It’s almost gone now!
