Out and about in London

Roxi has had quite a number of get togethers with friends in town lately. The latest one was on Sunday, a meeting in Soho with a friend from her old school here in England. While they went their way for a couple of hours, I made my way into Chinatown, a place I’ve not spent a lot of time. Also included below are some pics from our walk back to the train station.
Leicester Square area.
Chinatown. I found some hot sauce I was looking for and a couple of interesting stores that I need to take Roxi to soon.
Nearby Swiss Court, so named in 1991 in celebration of the 700th anniversary of the Swiss Confederation. Those coats of arms belong to the 26 Cantons of Switzerland.
Walking back to the train station, we found The Household Cavalry Museum on Whitehall. I’d like to go there one day. When I walked by this building, I realized there is still so much of London that I haven’t seen!
The Monument to the Women of World War II, Whitehall.

Sigh… It’s been so long since I was in London and your wonderful photos took me back to some of my favorite places. Thanks!
I’m glad you could come on this virtual walk with me, Jane. Isn’t it funny how London doesn’t really change very much over the years?
So much fun to just stroll! We love china town!! We always make a point to stop into the Four Seasons resturant for the peking duck every single time we visit! It is the best!! Looks like a nice day!! :)
Sara, I’ve never tried the Four Seasons. All of the restaurants were packed when I was in the area. I think I’ll need to go mid-week and try that Peking duck. Mmm. Thanks for the delicious tip!
Would love to visit Chinatown
Best wishes to Roxi for her studies. It sounds a grueling schedule
I hope Trudy likes being back in the UK
Barbara, Trudy LOVES being back in England. She spends lots of time in the garden, nose in the air :-)
I LOVE Chinatown, and one of the things I miss about London while I’m in Connecticut in the summers is a Chinese pancake. “Everything on a lettuce leaf” is wonderful, but sometimes I REALLY want a pancake! Ah well, a week from today we’re on our way “home.” Perhaps we could meet up for a blogger mutual admiration lunch!
Kristen, I would LOVE to meet you there for a blogger mutual admiration lunch ;-)
Hope to see you soon for pancakes!
I love seeing the pics of London. Especially the coat of arms – so cool. I bet Chinatown is really interesting – I wish I had explored that area in NYC the last time I went – I bet there are lots of neat finds in a place like that.
Isn’t that neat? There’s all this stuff to see–I often will still walk at a snail’s pace to take it all in. NYC is so fun too! Roxi and I had a good time there while Mr. DJ was working. LOL!
Back to Victoria?
We walked through Chinatown on our last trip but were really clueless about which restaurant to choose and finally decided No. I look forward to hearing about your future choices!
Maureen, we’ve eaten at a multi-level cafe on Charing Cross–it’s our default place. I’m sure there are other good restaurants. I’m keen to go for Dim Sum one day soon… but I need someone else with me. When are you in town next?!
These days I tend to avoid this busy Leicester Square area of town, but years ago, I used to go to Chinatown to get great bowls of noodle soup (very cheap). My friends and I would go to a restaurant that had many levels and everyone would sit at communal tables. I wonder if it is still there?
Bee, it really wasn’t so crowded when I was there, but I totally know what you mean. This was the first time I had a good wander through and it was fun :-)
thanks for the great photos of London and the weather looks good too
It WAS pretty nice, Christine. However, we’re back to rain and cold. Still ok, though since I prefer that to the too bright sun and hot temps ;-)
