An artist living in London! Brilliant.
I don’t know what a stroowafel is but it’s a bright and tempting picture.
Lucy
Lucy, a stroopwafel is a cookie that was invented in the Netherlands in the 1780s. It’s a very thin cookie that is split and filled with caramel. They are very good, especially when they are freshly made or get warmed up on top of a cup of coffee. You can read more about them here :-)

Love this shot! The bright coloured mug, the way you arranged the biscuit on top of it, the colours of the background… very nice!! It looks tempting, as Lucy says! :D
Thanks, Aledys! This is my husband’s mug. Actually it is his second Poland mug. He used his other one so much that the paint rubbed off! He drinks a lot of koffie ;-)
And you’re one H and one L short of a Holland mug ;)
Ha! You are GOOD, Invader_Stu :-)
yum – I love the mug.
I do too, Julia! And more importantly, so does Mr. DJ. It’s his ;-)
Wonderful colors.
Thanks, Maureen!
You and your stroopwafels! 8-) Someday I’ll have to find one to try…
Have you not tried them, Kathy? I heard a rumor that Kroger has them. And I don’t know if there is a Trader Joe’s in SA, but they’re supposed to have them too. Best enjoyed warm… maybe stick them outside for about two seconds. LOL!
I see that you are adapting well to your new environment.
LOL, we make do, Sarah ;-)
love the red of the mug and I too am sure what a stroowafel is, but I want one! :-)
Thanks, Caite! Maybe best that you don’t know… LOL! Actually it’s a yummy caramel cookie from the Netherlands.
Nice pic. I like the idea of wordless wednesday more and more. I’m thinking about joining it some day. :-)
You should, Judith! It’s so fun :-)
Well! That is quite a biscuit! (Nice coaster, too.)
As for your pear allergy, I wonder if you are allergic to canned pears, too. Your tarte was lovely, but be careful. Food allergies can be quite dangerous… xox
Thank you, Mimsy! As for the pears, I’ve never been allergic to them before–and I used to eat them all the time! I do wonder if there is something specific to this tree. Anyway, it’s such a pity because the pears are SO lovely. But after the tart from last week, I’ve not attempted to eat them again. I just dare not :-(
It looks yummy. What IS it?
They are apple cookies: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Glazed-Apple-Cookies/Detail.aspx
As usual, I subbed butter for shortening. And I happened to have some leftover homemade apple sauce, so I just used that instead of the apples. They were good! More like a cake than a cookie, but nice for breakfast :-)
Yum, yum. Is that biscotti? Love the mug – I love the shape of it.
Emm, they are apple cakey-cookies. Very nice ones at that!
