Ask an Expat: Hagelslag!
Mini boxes for sampling :-)
When Mr. DJ first started working here in Den Haag a couple of years ago, he would often bring back these little boxes of sprinkles for Roxi. We couldn’t believe that the Dutch ate sprinkles on their toast for BREAKFAST. When we moved here last Summer, Roxi ate this every day. [...]

A few more photos from the Weekend
The snowdrops glowed.
The woodpeckers made deep knocking noises on the trunks of trees.
Beautiful rose-ringed parakeets graced the bare branches.
And a happy dog raced through the woods.

Sunny, Sunny, Sunny, Snow
Three days of gorgeous, sunny weather with amazing blue skies. That’s what we enjoyed Friday-Sunday. Sadly, I had two sickies in the house–Mr. DJ and Roxi with matching head colds. Sunday, Mr. DJ felt well enough to take me and Trudy for a walk in a sunny park. Notice I did not say it’s been [...]
And pretty much a Wordless Thursday too…
Spring has sprung chocolate-wise, at least.
I’m moving the majority of my art studio downstairs (a lot of junk!), so I’m just popping in to share this adorable store front with you. I may need to get one of those chocolate chickens!

Letting Spring in
It’s a glorious morning here in The Hague. Blue skies, sun, milderĀ temperatures. I’ve shed my winter coat for now and am enjoying this warm respite. I see we have “heavy snow” predicted for Saturday. Boo! Winter, you were charming at first, but I’m so over you.
Lucylucia asked me yesterday if we were affected by the [...]
And drops of a different sort
I saw these in my back garden this weekend. Snowdrops… surely this means spring is near? Daffodils in March and Tulips in April, perhaps? Dear Mother Nature, don’t forget March starts next week. Love from one of your most devoted Springtime fans :-)
Three years of recipes in a pretty 3″ binder. This is my second [...]
Drip, drip, drop
Zzzzzzzzzzzzz. What sleepy weather. We’ve had light rain all day, so of course I had to bake bread. ;-)
We’re going to London on Wednesday–Mr. DJ has to be there at the end of the week for work. Maybe Roxi and I will catch a show, do a little shopping. We’re excited!

TTFN*
If Roxi is going to start gigging on a regular basis, I either need to start lifting weights or get a furniture dolly. This thing is HEAVY!
Today, Roxi finally gets to perform the “Freshman Cheer” song that she wrote last fall. It’s Spirit Week at school (Go FRESHMEN, Go ORANGE)! They’ve had a number of [...]
Ask an Expat: To market, to market…
I thought you might get a kick out of seeing how I do our grocery shopping here in the Netherlands. And now you can see why I don’t look nearly as cute as those Dutch ladies in my post yesterday ;-) I think I’m too stiff and worried about tipping over because of the ungainly [...]
